HOW MUSIC CHANGED, PART 137-28 – EVERY SINGLE MOTOWN ‘A’ SIDE, PART 28

PLAY THE SHOW

Our 28th episode dedicated to playing the ‘A’ side of every Motown 45 RPM single finds us at the end of 1965, a banner year for the label by any measurement. In a relatively short time period, Berry Gordy Jr., his staff and the label artists grew Motown from a tiny but ambitious independent record label to the most successful label in America – and yet they remained ambitious! Here are songs we cover in today’s show;

1)    A Bird in the Hand (Is Worth Two in the Bush)- The Velvelettes

2)    Don’t Mess with Bill – The Marvelettes

3)    The Flick (Part Two) – Earl Van Dyke & the Soul Brothers

4)    Do Right Baby Do Right – Chris Clark

5)    Going to a Go-Go – The Miracles

6)    Choosey Beggar – The Miracles

7)    Ask Any Man – Tony Martin

8)    Cleo’s Mood – Jr. Walker & the All Stars

9)    My World Is Empty Without You – The Supremes

10)  Do I Love You (Indeed I Do) – Frank Wilson

11)  Put Yourself in My Place – The Elgins

12)  Darling Baby – The Elgins

13)  My Baby Loves Me – Martha & the Vandellas

14)  Together ‘Til the End of Time – Brenda Halloway
